Home Is Where My Hunting Heart Is

Ahhhhh…… Home sweet home! There are no words to adequately describe my love of being home. As I plunge joyfully into the 70th glorious fall hunting season of my life, I rejoice the soul cleansing dynamo of being home with my amazing Queen of the Forest soulmate wife Shemane, family and dogs on my sacred wildlife home turf more than you can possibly imagine.

My phenomenal The Music Made Me Do It 2018 summer tour was the most fun, exhilarating, intense, musically outrageous and thoroughly gratifying tour of my life and I wouldn’t have traded all that running around, rocking, travel, flying, driving, hotel after hotel gig after gig for anything in the world.

When you are surrounded by the best band, the best crew, the best professional team on earth performing the most high energy fun songs to the best music loving audiences night after night with the most insane guitar tone known to man, how could a guy not be thankful and humbly appreciative for such a lifelong dream career!

But as critical to my life, liberty and pursuit of happiness American Dream that my music is, equally powerful and essential is my instinctive sacred hunting season every fall and winter at home.

I hear from a lot of viewers of our Ted Nugent Spirit of the Wild TV show inquiring why they don’t see me hunting around the world like all those other TV show hosts.

Even though we have featured great hunts and shows in Alaska, Africa, across Canada and a few states here and there over the years, none of the other hunting TV show hosts go on nonstop rock-n-roll tours across America and beyond every summer of their life, so they actually look forward to getting away for their hunting season tours.

To again repeat the wisdom of the greatest philosopher ever, sir Dirty Harry, “A good man has to know his limitations.”

Amen!

After having performed my 6617th concert this summer, I think I’ve turned over enough odometers in my 70 years to earn my stay home dream!

With virtually unlimited deer hunting opportunities on our Michigan and Texas grounds, I cannot imagine a more wonderful, satisfying and thrilling hunting season to be had anywhere else than right on my sacred homegrounds in both states.

With great bear hunting just a quick scoot north of Michigan in Ontario, Quebec and other Canadian provinces, plus the occasional short trip to maybe Illinois, Ohio or other nearby states, no hunting on earth thrills me more than hitting my favorite home treestands and being with Mrs. Nugent and my dogs, sleeping in my own bed and tinkering around my own farms and ranches.

Not only that, but who could possibly get in too much whitetail deerhunting, duck hunting, pheasants, doves, geese, turkey, rabbits, squirrels, grouse, woodcock, varmints and more right on home turf!

When I graduated from high school in 1967 and headed out on my eternal nonstop rock-n-roll roadtrip, I knew right then and there that I would dedicate myself to owning my own farm where I could hunt to my heart’s content.

Within a few short years of indefatigable work ethic and determination, my dream came true and I haven’t looked back once!

Home hunting is my ultimate dream and I live it every day!

So to all you traveling hunting adventurers out there, I wish you safe travels and good hunting, and may your wanderlust be satisfied and your backstrap dreams throttle on.

I’ve got many treestands and groundblinds I need to hunt right here at home, and you would be hard pressed to find a happier hunter anywhere on earth than this here goofy guitar player every night around my home campfire with family, dogs and friends.

Home is where the heart is and the spirit soars!
