Friday, October 19th, marked the culmination of a special project for Ted Nugent when the entertainer and his wife Shemane dedicated the Freedom's Angels Pavilion to the Soldier & Assistance Family Center at Fort Sam Houston.
Following a USO tour of the Middle East with country legend Toby Keith, recent months have seen the Nugent family visiting military bases nationwide, and witnessing firsthand the urgent need to assist our brave troops. Thus, the non-profit Freedom's Angels was born. The pavilion was the first major undertaking of foundation, and will allow injured soldiers to enjoy the outdoors in a sheltered area. It's a place where they can gather with family and friends during their ofttimes lengthy recuperation.
"The Nugent family represents all conscientious Americans who understand the sacrifices made by the military warriors," stated Nugent. "It is our duty to say thank you."
A spoken presentation by both Ted and Shemane, ribbon cutting ceremony and soul-stirring rendition of the Star Spangled Banner performed by Nuge highlighted the day. The event was followed by a special barbecue celebration for the troops, catered by Rudy's Country Store & Bar-B-Q.
