Gonzo Bushmaster Bronco

A lot of people have been wondering just exactly what it is that I am going to do to the ol' Zebra Bronco of Ted's. After all, Ted has been associated with the Zebra for a long time and it is something that is almost legendary in its identification with the Nuge. So, to change something like that into something even better is one of the greatest challenges there is . and that is what makes auto customizing so much fun!! We live for challenges like that!!!

The direction matches the likes, dislikes, and personality of the owner. The more I got to know Ted, the more I could see that the Zebra never really fit him. Zebras don't really do much except run around and try not to get eaten by lions. That ain't Ted! Ted is known as the ultimate hunter - and it is only natural that the ultimate hunter go after the ultimate predator - right? RIGHT!...and that was the start for my direction for the Bronco. Here is how it lays out.

1. The ultimate predator in the jungle is not a lion or tiger, noooooo - it's a snake. It grows up to 15 feet long, has fangs about 2 inches long and is extremely poisonous and aggressive. If you mix it up with one of these suckers, you're probably gonna die. It is called the BUSHMASTER.

2. Ted and I both support our military very strongly and one of the baddest, toughest, fighting groups in WWII and Vietnam was a group of jungle fighters called the BUSHMASTERS (after the snake of course).

3. Ted and I both support our 2nd Amendment rights very strongly and some of the most well-built, usable, state-of-the-art guns on the market come from BUSHMASTER firearms. (you got it - named after the snake).

4. Finally, Ted is a hunting guide and leads hunts all through the year. In most circles, someone who leads hunts is called the BUSHMASTER. (I don't know if this title has anything to do with the snake, but if he's leading a hunt, he'll be the first one to get his butt bitten by the snake - and that is good enough for me).

So, the name for this project is the BUSHMASTER, and it's going to be wild!

Rust Repair

+ more

The first group of pictures chronicles the majority of the rust repair and body replacement that was handled by Stacey David on an episode of the show, Stacey David's GearZT on ESPN2. All of a sudden, all that nasty Michigan rust was history!

Body Work

+ more

Using a special green color that Stacey and Ron Payton at PPG created, the final finishing and body work, as well as the painting, was done by the students at VC Technical College in Birmingham, AL - and they did a GREAT job!

Airbrushing

+ more

Following Stacey's design and direction for the rig, the airbrushing of the snakeskin and Bushmaster insignias on the side of the truck was handled by VC Tech instructor, Brian Frederick, and he really nailed 'em! Once again, following the design and direction of Stacey, the airbrushing of the nasty Bushmaster Beast on the doors was laid on by airbrush legend, Mickey Harris, and I think he even scared himself when he brought these bad boys to life.

With Nuge

+ more

We also threw in a few pictures of when the Nuge came to the GearZ shop and hung out with Stacey for a few hours. There was a lot of laughing, bench racin' and blues jammin'. No doubt, a great time was had by all! You never know what is going to happen when these two guys get together!
