12/21/09
Ted's interview is scheduled for 11 am EST, Monday, December 21.
Michael Graham of 96.9 FM WTKK, Boston Talks, will show support for veterans of the United States Military this holiday season by hosting a Radiothon and auction to benefit Fisher House Boston. The Radiothon will take place on Monday, December 21 from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The online auction will kick off on Tuesday, December 15 and bidding will close on December 21 at 6:00 p.m.

Graham will be joined by several special guests throughout the WTKK Radiothon broadcast. Former Governor Mitt Romney, musical artist and guitar legend Ted Nugent, actor and comedian Mike O'Malley, Fox25 personality VB, Senator John McCain, retired marine and blogger Michael Yon, Boston Pops Orchestra conductor Keith Lockhart, and Lt Col (Ret) Ralph Peters will join Graham and voice their support for our troops and for Fisher House Boston.
All proceeds from Graham and WTKK's fundraising efforts will support Fisher House Boston. Graham has been an advocate for Fisher House for many years. Construction of Fisher House Boston is nearing completion on the grounds of the Veterans Administration Medical Center in West Roxbury - a Level 2 polytrauma center with the only spinal-chord-injury unit in New England. The Fisher House Foundation helps wounded veterans recover faster by providing their families with caring and supportive comfort homes near military and VA medical centers at no charge. There are 43 Fisher House locations nationwide.
"The Fisher House is giving people across New England the chance to show their love and support for our military directly, by building this special home for wounded soldiers and their families," said Graham. "I want to remind the guys on the ground that the listeners of 96.9 support them, stand behind them and will be praying for them every day they are in harm's way."
"Michael Graham and everyone at WTKK have shown over and over again their commitment to the Fisher House mission," said Michelle Keating, CEO of Alder Foods and Chairwoman of the Fisher House Boston capital campaign. "We are grateful to have the support of Michael and the WTKK team and couldn't be more excited for the Radiothon and auction. Supporting our troops is so important all year long but especially meaningful during the holiday season. Fisher House is thankful for the generosity of WTKK and its listeners."
The online auction in conjunction with the WTKK Radiothon will go live on Tuesday, December 15. Auction items include: a private lunch and radio experience for two in the WTKK studio with host Jay Severin; four tickets to see Taylor Swift at the Banknorth Garden and a parking pass for the event; a private dinner party for eight in your home, catered by Morton's Steakhouse and hosted by Jim Braude and Margery Eagan; a spa day at the Elizabeth Grady Salon with WTKK host Michelle McPhee; and a private wine pairing dinner for four with Michael Graham at the Boston Harbor Hotel's acclaimed restaurant, Meritage.
"I'm proud that WTKK and our entire company have been involved with Fisher House and its important mission," said Peter Smyth, President and CEO of Greater Media. "Michael is truly dedicated to the cause, and his listeners have shown time and again that they will respond with generosity."
Michael Graham can be heard daily on 96.9 FM WTKK from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

About Fisher Houses and the Fisher House Foundation
More than 10,000 families are helped each year in the 43 Fisher Houses nationwide. The Fisher House Foundation has asked that family members of hospitalized active-duty service members and veterans of Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom (OEF/OIF) be given high priority for lodging at Fisher Houses. Fisher Houses and the Fisher House Foundation play a crucial role in helping veterans recover from the serious wounds they have suffered. Fisher Houses enable family members to be close to their loved ones during hospitalization, and give them a safe, comfortable, home-like environment, making it easier for them to participate in the care and recovery of their relatives.
