Rocker Ted Nugent to help firefighters
Signs bow to be given away at NOCFA fundraiser

Tuesday, March 9, was not the average day for seven North Oakland County Fire Authority (NOCFA) firefighters.

Traveling to Ted Nugent's Sunrise Acres in Coswell, the firefighters enjoyed wild boar chops, and baked beans with the famous rock guitarist and vocalist from Detroit.

Firefighter/paramedic George Murray has been working with Nugent's agent since October 2009 coordinating the signing of a bow that will be given away at NOCFA's 2010 Firefighter shoot out. Nugent signed a Fred Bear Recurve Bow for the event.

"Ted was very gracious of his time and very supportive of firefighters," said Murray.

Tickets for the NOCFA drawing are $1 each and can be purchased from NOCFA firefighters or at NOCFA headquarters on Grange Hall Road, beginning April 1. Money raised from the drawing will be used by the NOCFA firefighters association to support community activities, youth sports, and the NOCFA benevolent fund.

This year's NOCFA Firefighter's Archery shoot out is Aug. 29. Participants do not have to be firefighters to compete. More information will soon be available at www.nocfa.org.
