Still Raising Hell!

07/08/10

Anyone who has been to a Ted Nugent concert will confirm it's a mind-blowing experience unlike any other. And as many have learned, the only way to crank up the intensity is through our DangerZone VIP packages where you can meet the Motor City Madman in the flesh. The following is a first-hand telling of what made it so special for one lucky individual.

Seriously, who's cooler than Uncle Ted

Throughout the years, I have been fortunate enough to meet many of the musicians I have grown up listening to (Aerosmith, ZZ Top, Cheap Trick, KISS, etc.).  I don't know why, but for some unknown reason, coming into contact with Ted Nugent has somehow eluded me all these years.  Well, when I learned about the Danger Zone VIP packages available on the current tour, I knew it was time to rectify this problem.

It was on June 23rd here on Long Island, NY where I got to meet the Motor City Madman himself.  Ted was very cordial with everyone.  We talked about everything from music to politics to hunting (what else?!).  He was exceptionally accommodating with autographs and photos, and is a great listener as well.  I'm glad I finally had the opportunity to shake his hand and thank him for all the years of great music and for constantly "fighting the good fight."

What followed were two nonstop hours of solid, intense rock and roll.  We were treated to many of Ted's greatest hits (as well as a few obscure rarities thrown in for good measure).  We got exactly what we have come to expect from The Nuge:  High-energy mayhem and LOTS of attitude.  It was delivered tenfold..

On stage, Ted is still as entertaining as ever.  It's ironic that he will sometimes speak of the late James Brown during his performance, because if there is one person who can now claim the title, "The Hardest Working Man in Show Business," it has to be Ted.  He truly gives 110 percent to his audience.

I would be remiss if I didn't point out the band.  Mick Brown and Greg Smith are collectively one of the tightest and most powerful rhythm sections on the planet.  Their bone-crushing sound complements Ted's guitar playing perfectly.

Finally, this letter would not be complete if I didn't mention Toby Nugent.  Ted's son and longtime tour assistant ran the backstage area like a fine-tuned machine, while simultaneously being on the run to handle his many other duties elsewhere (it's obvious who he gets his work ethic from).  He was extremely attentive and did everything possible to assure our backstage experience would be a memorable one.  Thanks Toby!

I've been a fan of Ted Nugent now for over 30 years; I'm looking forward to the next 30.  Hey, it's certainly feasible.  After all, he hasn't slowed down a bit!
