Ted Nugent, who has a history of sitting in with country performers that dates back to Charlie Daniels' Volunteer Jam shows in the 1970s, joined Montgomery Gentry onstage Friday night at LP Field to tear into Cat Scratch Fever. Later that night, the Motor City Madman played at Ryman Auditorium, the former home of the Opry called "the mother church of country music."

"A lot of places like that invite me once a year to test the structural integrity and to make sure it will last," Nugent said.
