Marriage On The Rocks – Rock Bottom
The fifth studio album from The Amboy Dukes is a multifaceted record. Sometimes sold as two separate CDs, sometimes as a two-disc set, this experimental album explores progressive sounds. The first side was composed entirely by Nugent and shows a musical maturity and experimental quality that is refreshing for this heavy metal rocker. The intricately auditory track “Marriage / Part 1: Man / Part 2: Woman / Part 3: Music” is a nine-minute blues-inspired number that is surprisingly listenable. This improvisation-heavy record is less mainstream than other Amboy Dukes records, but still a very satisfying listening experience.
