Nuge rocked the house this past weekend with a bombastic set in Midland, Texas, wrapping up his summer SHUTUP&JAM! Tour, named after his latest full-length album, SHUTUP&JAM! on Frontiers Records. Ted was in top form for the sold-out gig, benefiting the Show of Support Memorial for our troops.
“Show of Support was honored to have Ted and his band help us kick off our campaign to construct a memorial to honor those who have fought in this Global War on Terror and also to memorialize the four heroes we lost on 11-15-12,” stated show organizer Terry Johnson. “Ted brought a message of support for all who serve, and a call out to everyone in our sold out, packed audience to stand up for America.”
Throughout the summer, Ted’s 35-date SHUTUP&JAM! tour has garnered glowing reviews for live performances at venues across the country and on July 19 in Detroit, he performed his 6,500th gig.
Here are a few reviews about the tour and album:
“…[with] Shutup&Jam, Uncle Ted has delivered an appealing…modest record full of catchy guitar riffs…Combine…the overall high songwriting and performance quality on Shutup&Jam and guess what? Ted Nugent’s new album not only satisfies, it…leaves us wanting more!”
–Matthew Wilkening, ULTIMATECLASSICROCK.COM, July 7, 2014
“ShutUp&Jam!, his first set of new tunes in seven years, hits the vintage Gonzo mark with tightened songwriting (light on but not devoid of political screeds) and, of course, plenty of fleet-fingered guitar heroics…Nugent stretches out on the punky (yes, punky) ‘Never Stop Believing,’ while the relative brevity he demonstrates on the rest of the album serves him well.” –Gary Graff, THEOAKLANDPRESS.COM, July 7, 2014
“…it was a kick-ass collection of tracks that impressed me…You just get song after song of his intensive guitar playing and probably some of the best vocals that he has done on any album.” (4 ½ out of 5 album review)
— Rick Ecker, NEWNOISEMAGAZINE.COM, March 17, 2014
“The one and only Ted Nugent—shredder extraordinaire, multi-platinum-selling music legend, balls-to-the-wall performer—proved once again…that he is all those things and so much more, and that his stage show, musical skills and inimitable, irrepressible, outrageous style make him nothing less than a force of nature.”
–Lara Dean, FLASHWOUNDS.COM, July 23, 2014
“Together with his killer band made up of Derek St. Holmes (guitar/vocals), Greg Smith (bass) and Mick Brown (drums) Nugent infused the senses with an arsenal of material…channeling the same blues masters that inspired his own guitar prowess, while continuing to wave the flag for a love of God and country.”
–James Wood, EXAMINER.COM (Allentown, PA), June 29, 2014

On July 21, veteran rock star Ted Nugent played a show at The Paramount in Huntington, New York. Rock group Pistol Day Parade served as the opening act that warmed up the stage for him.
His stage was graced by a large American flag backdrop. Nugent was accompanied by his three-piece band that included “Wild” Mick Brown on drums, Greg Smith on bass, as well as Derek St. Holmes on vocals and rhythm guitar.
He commenced his set with “Gonzo,” as the stage was graced in red and yellow lights, and he was greeted to a standing ovation.

On July 21, at one of our favorite venues, The Paramount in Huntington, NY, the one and only Ted Nugent ~ shredder extraordinaire, multi-platinum-selling music legend, balls-to-the-wall performer ~ proved once again in his five-decade plus career that he is all of those things and so much more…and that his stage show, musical skills, and inimitable, irrepressible, outrageous style make him nothing less than a force of nature.

I am writing to you in regards to the picture of Ted nugent, wearing the aboriginal head dress. I would appreciate if you would please take down the photo of Ted wearing the aboriginal head dress with a bow n arrow and gun in his hands …I find this very disrespectful and insulting to my cultural back round. I feel with Ted recent out burst of racism and the picture I stated with the head dress, that he is trying to convey aboriginals as he quoted ” unclean vermin”. I will not stand for this kind of blatant racism…
Greetings from Tedquarters.
Mr. Nugent has a long history of working with a wide variety of Native American Tribes across our great country. He has never used the term unclean vermin to describe Native Americans. On the contrary, Ted has been an honored guest at many tribal meetings, has worked with Native American youth, and was humbled to be inducted into the Strongheart Society by the Lakota Sioux, Northern Cheyenne and Arapahoe Tribes.
Mr. Nugent served as the Keynote Speaker for Native American Fish & Wildlife Society National Conference in Anchorage, Alaska, as well as for The Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa & Chippewa Indians in Michigan, and we were proud to host Native American Dancers from the Grand Traverse Band as our special guests for a performance before a crowd of 15,000 in Detroit.
Ted was asked by tribal elders in Nebraska to instruct their youth in current methodologies of shooting with bow and arrow, which he cited as one of the most rewarding experiences in his lifelong career as an outdoorsman and hunter.
One of Ted’s most requested songs, Great White Buffalo, disparages the greed of the white man and sends a message of hope for Native Americans who revere Mother Earth and our natural renewable resources. (See the song’s lyrics below.)
Mr. Nugent wears the headdress as a sign of reverence, and deep respect for the Native American culture and traditions. So no, we will not be taking the photos down.
Best regards,
Linda Peterson
Assistant to Mr. Nugent
GREAT WHITE BUFFALO
WELL LISTEN EVERYBODY TO WHAT I GOT TO SAY…there’s hope for tomorrow if we wake up today. It happened long time ago in the new magicland, the Indian and the buffalo existed hand in hand. The Indian needed food and skins for a roof, but they only took what they needed, millions of buffalo were the proof. Then came the white man with his thick and empty head. He couldn’t see past his billfold, he wanted all the buffalo dead. So the Indians hid in fear, there were no buffalo to be found. The magic was missing, it looked like some kind of burialground. It was sad, so sad. But above the canyon walls, strong eyes did glow, it was the leader of the land, The Great White Buffalo! And he found the battered herd, and he lead them across the land, with the Great White Buffalo we can make a final stand. So listen everybody to what I got to say, there’s hope for tomorrow if we wake up today. With the Great White Buffalo! –Ted Nugent, 1971
