ASK UNCLE TED

Rule #1-Respect your elders. At my age (67.4 hyper years) this can definitely come in rather handy since the largest percentage of my fellow man is noticeably younger than old, feeble, yet eternally dangerous me.

Based on the many millions of wonderful folk around the world I get to communicate with every day on my electronic facebook campfire, I sincerely thank all of you for the gushing respect we share on so many issues on this modern social media communication network phenomenon.

Afterall, communication is everything as far as I’m concerned, particularly in this dastardly culture war brought on by so many years of failed communication by so many we the people Americans.

Everyone paying attention knows all too well that the tip of the culture war spear is hunting rights and gun rights and I’ve been dead-center in the middle of this embarrassing fray since the 1960s.

But a brief visit to my facebook will shine a powerful light on the widespread celebration of self-evident truth, logic, commonsense and The American Way lifestyle, regardless of whether one hunts or owns guns themselves.

For the most part, truth is truth, logic is logic and commonsense is common and sensible, thank God.

Though it is impossible for me to respond to the millions of people on my facebook, I do all I possibly can to carryon a genuine dialog with as many people as I can, and I must say it is rather invigorating and motivating.

As one would expect, though every imaginable subject and issue does indeed arise by the hour, we certainly get unlimited conversation about rock-n-roll, guitars, hunting, guns, dogs and all aspects of music and the outdoor lifestyle.

So it is here that I thought I would unleash the positive spirit, goodwill, decency and genuine fascination with relative subject matter with a little Ask Uncle Ted Q&A.

Q1-Dear Uncle Ted, I have been following your music career all my life and fell in love with your bowhunting on Ted Nugent Spirit of the Wild TV. I’ve killed a few deer over the years but am having a hard time getting my family to eat the “sacred flesh” as you put it. Can you give me a killer recipe that will get my wife and kids over the venison hump? Keep rockin and whackin & stackin, Jerome P. NE

A-Good for you Jerome. For starters, be sure you subscribe to Deer and Deerhunting magazine and read deeranddeerhunting.com regularly as these are the ultimate epicenters for valuable information and direction on this critical sacred flesh respect and utilization. Killer venison is a simple 5 step process.

Step#1-kill that critter quick and clean. This is why year round, constant practice with our weapons of choice is so critical. A quick kill and recovery makes for the ultimate foundation of great venison

Step#2-Gut thoroughly, keep clean, skin and get the carcass cooled ASAP. Take every step possible to keep dirt and debris off the carcass, thoroughly clean out any and all blood and body fluids and get the skinned carcass to a cooler as soon as you can. Do not expose to sunlight in the back of your truck or hanging in the yard if the temperature is above 45 degrees Fahrenheit. It is even better if you quarter the animal for better air flow. If no cooler is available, debone the meat and refrigerate.

Step#3-Age that hard earned meat! The best venison comes after a good week to 10 days aging in 35 to 40 degrees. Breaking down the enzymes is where the tenderness and flavor are best enhanced.

Step#4-Remove all fat and membrane from meat before it is butchered and cooked. Venison fat does not enhance the flavor of the meat like beef or pork fat.

Step#5-DO NOT OVER COOK your sacred venison! Venison is at its most delicious when nearly raw in the center, but singed somewhat quickly over very hot heat.

Seasoning and other flavor enhancing techniques are always a matter of individual choice, but I have found that the best venison meals are most enjoyable with just salt and pepper and maybe a little butter and garlic basting.

Many great recipes are available in Shemane’s and my Kill It & Grill It cookbook.

Tribe Nuge has celebrated the perfection of our pure, natural tooth, fang and claw FUN SPORT MEAT TROPHY hunting lifestyle forever by fueling our sacred temples with wild game meat all our lives. We have converted many a suspicious diner to fall in love with God’s most precious, natural, organic, ultraYummy, honest-to-God free range protein by following these simple steps.

The extra effort is more than worth-while, and though the scrumptious meals alone are reward enough, it is in fact that reasoning predator, hands-on conservation connection with our hard earned life’s sustenance that fills our hearts and souls even more than it fills our bellies.

I look forward to unlimited communication daily with my fellow conservationists at my facebook boogie (facebook.com/tednugentofficial) and welcome any and all questions you may have for me.

May the sacred flesh and mighty critters fill your life and spirit forever.
