Let us celebrate the most beautiful ballistic freedom soundtrack cacophony known to man! The glorious Opening Day of firearms deerseason wherever and whenever this wonderful day may occur is the day of days for American deerhunters across the land of the free and home of the brave!

Lord have mercy how I love the stimulating sound of small arms fire at the break of day!

DeerCamp 2018

Thursday, November 8, 2018

By: Ted Nugent Chris was hunkered down with his crossbow in a beautiful ravine between a stunning cattail rimmed lake and a high cut ridge sloping up to a withered cornfield. The fall colors and soothing cacophony of wildlife sounds made this deery zone all the more stimulating and he could sense he was in the lap of God. With a rare southeast wind nipping at his cheek, he wasn’t really surprised at all when a handsome butterball unicorn spike buck appeared out of the reedgrass puckerbrush ahead, and with deadly predator stealth he sent his broadhead tipped bolt straight into the life giving pumpstation of the young buck for a quick, happy backstrap dream. Anthony made the long drive from New Jersey for his Uncle Ted deerhunting dream, and knew he was in one of my favorite ladderstands as he settled in for his evening vigil. Green foodplots to his right and a magical marsh to his left, the natural corridor of his narrow woodlot had all the markings of the ultimate critter ambush setup, and he was ready to rock.

Ultra Alive Fulltime

Thursday, October 25, 2018

By: Ted Nugent I was all snuggled ultra-comfy, deep in the warm, loving bosom of God. I could actually taste the effervescent swampfog that enveloped our little riverine bog, and I don’t know where the slight pre-dawn glow came from, but a subtle shimmer accented all the gold, yellow, red and orange fiery flora and fauna within which we were perched. My entire life has been dedicated with all the might I can muster to be as alive as I can possibly be. My indefatigable, nonstop hyper scramble to maximize my life, liberty and pursuit of happiness has consumed my every breath for near on 70 years now, and I push myself to discover new and exciting procedures each and every day to kick it up a notch in everything I do. God, family, country, music, my sacred we the people politics, hunting, fishing, trapping, dogs, communication with people and a vast assortment of American Dream options throttle my entire being fulltime.

Things Are Not Always As They Seem

Thursday, October 18, 2018

By: Ted Nugent If any hunter alive or dead would ever expect to have a reasonable handle on the critter numbers on their own private hunting lands it would be me. I’ve been hard at it my entire life, never missed a season in 70 years and diligently explore, farm, hunt, fish, trap, survey and study my sacred hunting grounds nonstop throughout the year, all year long, every year. When we were hit hard across the Midwest by the deadly EHD plague a few years back, we counted nearly 100 dead deer carcasses in our woods, fields, swamps, marshes and fen in a short few months period. It was heartbreaking to say the least. Over the following five years we backed way back on doe harvests, and within just a few short years we celebrated God’s miraculous whitetail deer productivity creation as the numbers rebounded to nearly the good old days. The hunting has been wonderful. My deer expert son Toby reported herds of 50 to 60 animals wintering on our place this past year and we were excitedly looking forward to an action packed backstrap boogie come the October 2018 opener. But alas, it was not to be!

Backstrap Fever!

Thursday, October 11, 2018

By: Ted Nugent I think we can all agree that the early bowhunting season isn’t exactly the ultimate time of year weather-wise to get all fired-up to get out into the deerwoods. Pretty much everywhere across the hinterland the temperatures and conditions have remained steadily more summer-like than fall-like. All together now…. Ugh! But hark my fellow Natty Bumpo backstrappers, no hot, muggy, mosquito-buzzing sunny days will keep us out of our favorite deer-haunts, now will it!

October Like You Mean It!

Thursday, October 4, 2018

By: Ted Nugent Well get on bended knee and thank the Good Lord Almighty like you mean it! We are here but by the love and grace of God to celebrate yet another glorious, wonderful October! Say glory, glory hallelujah and give me a minute to catch my predator breath! Anytime we can make it to another October we should look to the heavens and say a prayer of ultra-thanks for the blessed gift of another hunting season! I know many sporters have been at it hard for over a month in numerous states and provinces, but nothing says huntseason like the magical, mystical month of October! When the sumac starting turning red and orange and yellow and the geese began increased movement and visibility, you knew darn well that a very special time of year was upon us.

A Primal Dance Down Memory Lane

Thursday, September 27, 2018

By: Ted Nugent The here and now is always of critical importance. Lessons learned and accumulated experiences in life are what fortify us to be capable of making better choices and judgment calls each and every day. As a 70 year-old husband, father, grandfather and brother, my goal has always been to push my sensual radar to the maximum level of awareness so as to upgrade my quality of life constantly. Such dedicated attentiveness to primary priorities is the exact same system of considerations that benefit every endeavor we pursue, and that includes our deerhunting decisions. Walking on the wildside behind my dad, bow and arrow in hand in the big Michigan deerwoods as a little tyke taught me much, slowly but surely, about stealth and situational awareness. I bet if some sort of research could be determined, we would find that the most successful deerhunters are probably the most organized individuals in the world, and probably more often than not, the most successful overall in life.

My Dream Gear

Monday, September 24, 2018

By: Ted Nugent Oh, how things have changed! Well some things at least. The overall spirit of my hunting life, and life in general hasn’t really changed one whit, but Lord have mercy when it comes to gear and technology, especially archery gear, it is a whole brave wild new world out here. When my dad and I would hit the north Michigan deerwoods in the 1950s and 60s we just had our old yew and Osage longbows and cedar arrows in a backquiver. There were no camo hunting clothes to be found back then and nobody I knew had ever heard of a treestand or commercial groundblind. We wore standard plaid wool shirts and jackets and earthtone corduroy pants with lace up leather boots.

The Future of Hunting Is in Our Hands

Thursday, September 13, 2018

By: Ted Nugent The air sure feels special right now as September throttles forward into huntseason 2018! Good Lord am I ever ready to ROCK the best season of my life! Ever the eternal optimist, I feel nothing but positive energy and excitement from all my hunting buddies who feel the same as I do. The spirit is beautifully wild and we just know in our predator hearts that the sacred backstraps will indeed flow like God meant them to! I have read and heard way too many reports and horror stories that stink of a bleak doomsday prognosis for our beloved outdoor sports and hunting heritage, and I don’t like it. There are many negative and destructive dynamics at play here but I am absolutely convinced they are all reversable and fixable if more of us who truly love this lifestyle will turn up the heat and fight against this nasty culture war more intensely focused and more aggressively.

More Archery Fine Tuning

Thursday, September 6, 2018

By: Ted Nugent Some things in life are worth repeating. I tell Mrs. Nugent I love her every few hours. I bring her flowers often. I never pass her in a room without a quick hug and a smooch. I try to call my kids, grandkids, siblings and extended family as often as possible always repeating how much I miss them and love them. I snuggle and pet my beloved dogs Happy and Sadie and Coco most every hour throughout the day!
